By: Tim Heroux Mr. Hahn has chosen Cailin McGuire as the Featured Artist for April. Cailin was chosen because she is a very good leader and she has learned to play several instruments. She is even playing 4 instruments in the school musical, Grease. Cailin does a fantastic job in all of her music classes including, concert band, wind ensemble, pit orchestra, pep band, and AP music theory. Mr. Hahn, the high school Band Director, believes her best musical quality is that she has a lot of determination.
Cailin said she likes taking music classes because, “I like it’s ability to bring peace and stability in my life.” She also likes to know how music functions and what makes it work. She believes her best musical quality is that she doesn’t give up when trying to learn a new song or an instrument. She is most inspired by Ian Clarke, a flute composer, especially due to one of his pieces which is based on the sounds of the ocean that really pushes the limits of instruments. In the future, Cailin plans on majoring in music education to one day become a high school band director.
