By: Emily Gillotti Ty Zaccagnini has been chosen by the Science Department for February’s Junior Student of the Month. Ty says, “I’m flattered to be chosen because I really like science and I put a lot of effort into it.” The most interesting part about science for Ty, is working with chemicals. He also enjoys the math aspect of the subject. Ty has taken biology, chemistry and is now taking Physics as well as being a lab assistant. His favorite science experiment is the “Bag of Reactions Experiment” that mixes chemicals and inflates a plastic bag when it gets hot.
A study habit Ty recommends is to use mnemonic devices to help memorize criteria. For example, relating the first letter of a vocab word to something you are familiar with to help remember it. In Ty’s free time he enjoys playing soccer for Watertown High school and traveling. Ty considers himself a role model, because he is very motivating to underclassmen. Ty is unsure of where he wants to go to college exactly but he would want to major in neurology.
