By: Ryan BarnoskyBrighid Beverly was chosen by the English Department for the January Freshman Student of the Month. She currently has Mr. Lewis as a teacher in English I Honors. Brighid claims that English is her favorite subject. “I think it’s really fun to analyze articles,” she states. To stand apart from her fellow peers she expresses, “I try to always work hard. I’ve always read a lot, so I think I know I had an advantage, because I knew a lot about the elements of English.” So far Brighid feels like the transition from middle school to high school was easy but, “the transition from the beginning of the year to mid-year was a lot harder. There’s a lot more work.” Until now, Brighid has been involved in the school play and plans to audition for the spring musical. She’s also a part of the Robotics Team, which she was previously on, in middle school as well. Earning January Student of the Month is exciting to Brighid, she feels that it’s a “good accomplishment.” To stay on track Brighid has already set a goal for herself, which is to, “earn above a 90 for the whole year.” She’s committed to it and thinks it’ll be rewarding in the end.

After high school, he would like to pursue a major in STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and math]. Klaus’s advice for students is to, “Put in the effort and be active in class.” By: Madison Migiano Stella Quadrato, a junior here at WHS, was chosen by the English Department as Student of the Month. Stella feels very proud to have accomplished getting Student of the Month and she believes that she was chosen for this because she's been working hard and has been participating often in class. She is enjoying her current English course saying, “Mrs. Cybart is a great teacher!” Her favorite English class was English II with Ms. Auclair because she liked the books that they read in class.
Advice Stella would give to other students is, “always do your best in all your classes, take pride in your work, and participate in class as much as possible.” One of her favorite books is called Perfect Strangers by Roseann Sdoia. She read it over the summer for an assignment and says it was interesting and an enjoyable read for her. Outside of school, she plays field hockey as an extracurricular activity, and she enjoys spending time with her friends and family for fun. Stella’s plans after high school include going to college for either nursing or teaching. Congrats to Stella who works very hard in school and her hard work really paid off! By: Jack Stewart Priscilla Nascimento was selected for January Student of the Month, by the English department. Priscilla feels honored to be chosen for Student of the Month And thinks she was picked because she truly enjoys English, and feels her teachers see that she really likes the class.
Priscilla is currently taking AP Language and says her strengths in the subject, are reading and writing essays. She says this is her favorite English class she has taken at WHS because of the type of reading they do, and how high tempo the course is. Some advice Priscilla has for students that want to get Student of the Month in the future, is to work hard for good grades and try to enjoy your class, because often times teachers recognize that you like the class while working hard at it. Priscilla’s favorite book is, Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. It’s her favorite book because one of the characters is the best female protagonist of all time, in her opinion. She says her favorite author is Jane Austen because her writing keeps the reader intrigued throughout the entire book, and all the plot lines in her books are spectacular. Priscilla plans on going to college and majoring in computer animation. For fun outside of school, Priscilla reads, and for most of her free time practices Computer Animation in preparation for college. Some extracurricular activities she is part of are the Robotics Team, Delta Club, Student Council, as well as running her book club. |
